Decreasing negative behavior of an autistic child by use of picture schedules

Abstract

The purpose of the intervention was to decrease the student's negative behaviors from 10-15 tantrums to one or two a day by using a picture schedule. The study would determine if by using a picture schedule this student's negative behaviors would decrease. The strategy had not been used with the student previously. The research question "Does using a picture schedule decreasing negative behavior of an autistic student?" was studied in the author's class with a single autistic student. The author of this paper considered it to be the best tool to use with this particular student.
