Abstract

Help-seeking research is primarily done within the general population and large minority groups. However, the barriers to help seeking commonly found may not be the same for Native Americans. The current research sought to investigate help-seeking behaviors in Native American populations. The purpose of this study was to understand how identification with Native American culture or cultural embeddedness might interact with symptom identification, help-seeking, and preference of whom to seek help from when a problem is identified.
