Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine the effectiveness and/or lack of effectiveness in pre-service and in-service courses in the teaching of reading. The researcher sought through books, periodicals, newspaper clippings and monographs those aspects of the pre-service and in-service training in the teaching of reading that proved most beneficial to the beginning teacher.
