Abstract

Do reading teachers understand the nature of reading? After shoveling through the pedagogic blizzard of word attack skills, comprehension skills, subskills, scopes and sequences, pretests and posttests, diagnoses, prescriptions, and evaluations to clear for his or her mind the path of instruction, does he/she care to know the nature of the primal forces that generated the storm?
