Abstract

It is the purpose of this paper to examine the following areas concerning the handicapped as presented in juvenile literature: attitudes of others towards the handicapped, physical and psychological problems presented by the handicap, and accomplishments of the person despite his handicap. By focusing on these areas the writer hopes to provide insights for bibliotherapy with the physically handicapped juvenile. Forty-four fiction books dealing with the physically handicapped and written between 1940-1973 were selected and evaluated.
