Abstract

A remedial reading program is effective only when it considers the individual student and his needs. Students who reach the Junior High School suffering from reading difficulties have developed a strong resistance to reading, especially when it is imposed upon them. They find no pleasure in reading because it is both uninteresting and difficult, and more often than not, these students have met both failure and frustration in their previous reading experiences.
