Abstract

As a Reading Center teacher in the city of Milwaukee the writer became interested in the facilities provided by other urban school systems. This paper is the result of an investigation into the provisions for children with reading disabilities in cities of the United States with populations in excess of 470,000. It is hoped this paper will be of benefit to those interested in an over-all view of the provisions afforded children with reading disabilities in the larger cities of the United States. Teachers interested in administering a reading program and school systems may find particular help in the areas of organization and materials used.
