Abstract

The major purpose of this endeavor was to assist parents and educators in understanding the preschool and early primary child as he prepares for and launches his initial reading experiences. This was done through two lectures given for parents of young children. The topics discussed were: 1. The emotional and social needs to be fulfilled in the child who is to reach his potential in reading; 2. Readiness for reading and the beginning reading program.
