Listening; Education, Primary

The primary purpose of this paper is to survey the literature pertaining to the teaching of the listening skills. The secondary purpose is to suggest practical techniques for the instruction of this valuable skill. This study is limited to the primary levels with the intention that if the children in the early years of education learn to listen, they shall enrich this skill as they progress in their formal education. The literature is limited to periodicals and books. At present there is a dearth of valuable research on the teaching of listening in the primary levels.
